Our Managing Partner and Merchant Taylors’ School alumnus, Richard Walker-Taylor, revisited his former senior school for their Careers Networking event to give an insight into life after school. The event gave alumni the opportunity to explain different career paths to current students and talk about how their degrees and backgrounds have impacted their working lives today.

Over 120 students from Lower Sixth were given a summary of Richard’s background and the history of Concilium Search, before choosing who they were interested in talking to.

Richard explained his journey from Newcastle University History graduate to Managing Partner of Concilium Search and how he entered the world of recruitment following his degree.

Another key point of Richard’s talk to the students, was how his sporting background has been influential, not only during his career at Concilium, but within business as a whole. Being an avid rugby player throughout school and university provided a foundation for developing a successful and positive mindset in the workplace, which has been influential in his career to date.

Leaving the event, Richard was really impressed with the enthusiasm and professionalism of the pupils and their interest for Concilium internships was really encouraging.

We are planning to organise a summer internship program and hope to see more Merchant Taylors’ pupils join our ever-expanding business in the years to come!
